These terms apply whenever you buy something from hecticrecordsbelfast.com, operated by Hectic Records, 45-47 Rosemary St, Belfast BT1 1QB ("we", "us", "our"). By placing an order with us, you agree to them.
We sell new and used vinyl records, and occasionally other formats, both in store and online. Photos and descriptions are as accurate as we can make them, but records — especially used ones — are physical, well-loved objects: sleeve wear, light surface marks, and other signs of age are normal and don't necessarily mean a fault. Where a used item has more notable wear, we'll say so in its description.
Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable. We do our best to keep stock levels accurate, but because we also sell in person in the shop, it's occasionally possible for an item to sell out just before an online order for it comes through. If that happens, we'll let you know as soon as we spot it and refund you in full for that item.
If we've made a genuine pricing mistake — a typo, a decimal point in the wrong place — we can cancel and refund that part of your order rather than honour the incorrect price, and we'll always tell you before doing so.
Orders are placed and paid for through Square's secure checkout. We never see or store your card details ourselves. We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order — for example if we suspect fraud, if an item turns out to be unavailable, or if something in your order looks like a mistake — in which case we'll refund you in full.
Pre-ordering a record means paying for it in full now, ahead of its release or arrival with us. See our How Pre-Orders Work page for the full detail on timing and fulfilment. Release dates are set by labels and distributors, not us, and can shift — we'll keep you updated if a release you've pre-ordered is delayed.
You can choose to collect your order from the shop or have it posted. We aim to dispatch posted orders promptly, but we're not responsible for delays caused by the postal service or courier once an item has left us. If a delivery goes missing, let us know and we'll do what we reasonably can to help sort it out, including a replacement or refund where appropriate.
If you're a consumer buying online, UK law gives you the right to cancel your order and receive a refund within 14 days of receiving your goods, without needing to give a reason. To cancel, just email us at hecticrecordsbelfast@gmail.com within that window.
There's one important exception that applies specifically to us: once a sealed record or CD has been unsealed, it can no longer be returned under this right, for hygiene and copyright reasons — this is a standard exemption under UK consumer regulations for sealed audio/video recordings. Records bought unsealed (most used stock) don't carry this restriction.
Where a return is accepted, you're responsible for the cost of sending the item back to us, and we ask that it comes back in the condition you received it. We refund the item price and original delivery cost within 14 days of receiving the return, using your original payment method.
This is separate from your rights if an item arrives faulty or not as described — those rights aren't affected by anything above, and we'll always sort out a genuine fault with a replacement, repair, or refund.
If a record arrives damaged, faulty, or not what you ordered, contact us at hecticrecordsbelfast@gmail.com and we'll sort it out — a replacement where we can, or a refund.
We're not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses arising from your order. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
You agree not to misuse this site — including attempting to interfere with its operation, submitting false information, or using it for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or refuse service to anyone who does.
We may update these terms from time to time, for example as our services change. The current version will always be posted here, and it's the version in place at the time you place an order that applies to that order.
These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of Northern Ireland. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also be able to bring a claim in the courts of your own home nation.
